Post worthy
A few weeks ago Sam and I attended Michael Jackson's memorial service. It was a beautiful service. There were a lot of kind words said, Brooke Shields speech was definitely the highlight. Smokey Robinson spoke of Michael at a young age and how he sang with so much feeling, it was a great speech. Some congress woman spoke and if there was ever a time for a hook to come out of the curtains and yank someone off a stage, this would have been it. John Mayer's performance was weird. He didn't even sing. Maybe I just didn't get it. I thought Mariah's performance was really good, I have no idea why she made a public apology for it. I was disappointed Diana Ross wasn't there. His children were there, and his daughter Paris spoke briefly, and made me cry.
What I can tell you is this, Michael Jackson was an incredible entertainer, and I loved his music. When I was 6 years old me, Am, Han, Kenny, and Dennis (a friend of ours) would have cheese parties in the garage and dance around to the "Bad" album. I wish I had that on video.
Sam and I decided months ago if MJ did shows in Vegas, as was rumored, we'd attempt to get tickets. To be honest secretly I'd hoped that this was just a triumphant come back concert where he'd emerge from his casket, but no. The King of Pop is gone.
Here are a few photos from the event:
