Duck and Cover (true story)

Please keep in mind that Sam and I live right next to a "lake" which is more of a duck pond than a lake.
This morning.
It's 3:30 AM.
Sam and I are fast asleep.
All of the sudden I am pulled out of a deep sleep by the sound of quacking. Not just any quacking, but the loudest most ear piercing quack ever. I lay there thinking, surley this duck cannot quack forever. I put some pillows over my head and tried to plug my ears, but the quacking persisted. I laid there for what seemed like forever and the duck continued to quack!! In fact it started to sound like a quacking fire alarm. It was constant and rhythmic and ridiculously annoying.
Side note about me: When I am mostly asleep I am a different person, I am extremely emotional and mostly crazy. Yes, different.
I woke Sam up and said, "SAM!! What am I supposed to do?! I can't sleep with that horrible quacking going on!!" Sam who was most likely just talking in his sleep tells me to relax and go back to sleep. I tried, but that stupid duck was going to make me go nuts! So I tore out of bed, grabbed my robe and went to the balcony. I didn't have a plan to get rid of the duck at this point. I went out there and started shushing the duck, this did not phase him for a second. I then leaned over the balcony and grabbed a handful of pebbles and start to throw them in the water. Not far enough to hit the duck just enough to move the water and frighten the duck. Well, the quacking paused, then started again. I shushed and threw pebbles for about 5 minutes straight and what do you know, the duck gave in. And although I was never able to get back to sleep this morning, that duck learned a valuable lesson
Don't mess with me when I need my rest.
